The Improvement of Student’s Critical Thinking Skills Through the Development of Science Learning Material Based Socioscientific Issues with Interactive Multimedia-Assisted on Gadget

This study aims to determine the effect of the socio-scientific issue approach with the investigative group learning model on the critical thinking skills on environmental change. This study uses a quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design. The research population is the students of class X IPA SMAN 1 Batu Sopang, Paser Regency, East Kalimantan, in the academic year 2020/2021. The samples were class X IPA 1 (experimental group) and X IPA 2 (control group) . The test instrument used is a written test. The average pre-test and post-test of the experimental class increased by 15.86, while the average value of the pre-test and post-test of the control class increased by 8.62. the two classes have a difference of 7.24. The N-Gain test result for the experimental class is 0.33, including the medium category and the control class is 0.20, including the low category. The results of the independent samples t-test are sig. 0.08 < 0.05 and t count 2.740 > 1.99, meaning that H0 is rejected. Based on the study results, the socio-scientific approach to issues with the investigative group learning model proved to be more effective in improving students' critical thinking skills than conventional learning models

Efforts to overcome global warming and climate change are integrated with science learning with the socio-scientific issues method. Materials on global warming and climate change are included in an interactive e-book that integrates the peat ecosystem's socio-scientific issues (SSI). This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Integrated Interactive E-book SSI Ecosystem Peat on learning outcomes and students' environmental care attitudes. The research subjects were 30 grade VII students of SMPN 5 Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan. The result is that SSI's integrated interactive e-book is effective in improving learning outcomes. The results of the SPSS test with a significance value of 0.05 showed a value of 0.008. There is a difference in the mean of the pretest and posttest results, with an N-gain value of 1.66 with low criteria. SSI's Integrated Interactive E-book is effective to improve students' environmental care attitude with an average score of 89.8% with the criteria of being very caring

Development of Density Meter Learning Media Using Arduino Uno to Improve Critical Thinking Abilities

This research aims to develop an Arduino Uno-based learning media that focuses on measuring the density of substances, with the aim of determining the suitability of the density meter, the accuracy of the density meter and improving students' critical thinking skills. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) with a Four-D model with the steps Define, Design, Develop and Disseminate. This learning media is designed to provide students with practical experience in understanding the concept of density through direct experiments using a density meter connected to an Arduino Uno. Apart from that, this media is also designed to encourage students to develop critical thinking skills, such as analysis, evaluation and problem solving skills through reflective questions that are integrated into learning. Validation and testing are carried out through certain stages to ensure the quality and effectiveness of this learning media. Assessments are carried out on aspects of clarity of instructions, relevance to lesson material, appropriateness of level of difficulty, and impact on students' critical thinking abilities. The collected data was analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The results of the development of the density meter tool show that the assessment of experts is in the very appropriate category with a score of 90.50. The tool's accuracy results are an average of 99.55%. Apart from that, the post-test results revealed that the density meter was proven to be effective in improving students' critical thinking skills with an N-Gain value of 0.80 in the high category. It is hoped that the results of this research can make a positive contribution in the development of learning media that focuses on practical aspects and critical thinking skills. It is hoped that the Density Meter learning media using Arduino Uno can help teachers teach density concepts with a more interesting and effective approach, as well as encourage students to think more critically in understanding and applying science concepts in everyday life.
