Rapid and radical changes are a fundamental characteristic of the modern economy. Accordingly, the success of any economy is conditioned by its ability to adequately respond to all of the demands that the changing environment imposes on it. When some kind of a change occurs, flexibility is necessary in implementing plans and makin decisions, that is, an adequate and timely reaction is necessary. As the environment changes, so do the rules of winning. Businesses that are able to create differentiating advantage in a globalized world achieve the greatest success. Manny difficulties faced by the Serbian economy during the previous period, as well as the late entry into the transition process and the implementation of reforms, make it difficult to adapt to the demands that come from the changing environment. In addition to that, the pandemic caused by the Covid-19 virus, as well as the current war events, significantly slow down the development of many economies in the world, and accordingly, they do not bypass the Serbian economy either. The goal of this research is to indicate that some of the factors inherent in the modern environment determine the development of the Serbian economy.

Information systems in small manufacturing companies can have a big impact on increasing economy and productivity. Due to limited human and financial resources, these companies generally use cheaper commercial solutions or develop specialized information system solutions that are adapted to their needs. In order to properly solve the problem of introducing an information system, a thorough analysis of information flows in the company and corresponding business processes is necessary. The main subject and goal of the research in this work is related to the investigation of time losses due to the absence of an information system from the aspect of managing the flow of cutting tools, as well as the presentation of the foundations for its development in a small manufacturing company.

Savremeni uslovi poslovanja preduzeća determinisani su neizvesnošću, brzim promenama i poslovanjem u dinamičnoj i turbulentnoj poslovnoj okolini. Jasno je da okolina ima uticaj na poslovanje preduzeća, ali i preduzeće u određenoj meri utiče na okolinu. U tom kontekstu veoma je važno sprovesti strategijsku analizu okoline koju delimo na internu i eksternu. Analiza eksterne okoline odnosi se na analizu prilika i pretnji, dok se interna analiza fokusira na analizu snaga i slabosti preduzeća. U ovom radu akcenat je stavljen na najznačajnije metode za strategijsku analizu poslovanja preduzeća koje se najčešće koriste u praksi. Primenom ovih metoda preduzeća dolaze do važnih informacija iz okruženja koje su im neophodne prilikom formulisanja strategije poslovanja. Adekvatna strategijska analiza okruženja osnova je za uspešno poslovanje i opstanak preduzeća na tržištu.
