This study was conducted to determine the effect of Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning models in improving learning outcomes of IPS 1 XI grade students at Pati 1 Pati. This study used quasiexperiment using the pretest-posttest c ontrol class group. The population of this study was students of c lass XI IPS. The sample in this study was 80 students from 2 classes. 40 students of Class XI IPS 5 as an experimental class and 40 students in Class XI IPS 3 as a control class. S tudents in the experimental group were given a treatment with PBL learning models while students in the control class were given treatment of conventional learning models. The first phase sample selec tion technique was c arried out using purposive sampling and the second stage using random sampling. Based on the findings, it can be c oncluded that there is an impact on the use of PBL and conventional models of economic learning outcomes. The PBL model has a significant influence on the economic learning outcomes of MAN 1 Pati.

AbstrakProses pelaksanaan pembelajaran sains di MI peranannya masih tersentral pada guru (teacher centered) yang menyebabkan peserta didik kurang tertarik terhadap materi yang diajarkan. Selain itu, kurangnya peningkatan kualitas guru dari segi kompetensi pedagogis. Fakta di lapangan memperlihatkan bahwa dalam mempelajari sains, siswa cenderung lebih menghafal konsep, teori, dan prinsip tanpa memaknai proses perolehannya. Untuk memecahkan permasalahan tersebut, perlu dilakukan upaya berupa perbaikan strategi pembelajaran dengan tujuan mempermudah pemahaman peserta didik dalam keterampilan proses dan karakteristik islami. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan tentang implikasi penerapan model Problem Based Learning (PBL) dalam pembelajaran sains kelas V ditinjau dari keterampilan proses dan dampaknya terhadap karakter islami peserta didik tahun akademik 2018/2019. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif metode tindakan (action research) dengan kegiatan siklus 1 dan 2 mencakup empat tahapan yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengamatan, dan refleksi. Pelaksanaan pengumpulan data melalui teknik tes, angket, observasi, catatan lapangan, dan dokumentasi. Penelitian yang dilakukan menunjukkan bahwa keterampilan proses sains siklus pertama tergolong cukup baik dengan presentase 69,79% dan pada siklus kedua dengan presentase 73,01% cukup baik dengan mengalami peningkatan 3,26%. Karakter islami peserta didik pada siklus 1 menunjukkan presentase 85,00% kategori baik dan pada siklus kedua menunjukkan 90,96% pada kategori baik dengan mengalami peningkatan 5,96%. Oleh karena itu, karakteristik islami peserta didik pada mata pelajaran sains dapat dibentuk dan meningkat dengan model Problem Based Learning (PBL) melalui keterampilan proses. In addition, the lack of teachers' quality improvement in terms of pedagogical competence. The facts in the field showed that in studying science, students tended to memorize concepts, theories, and principles without interpreting the acquisition process. To solve these problems, the efforts need to be done such as improving the learning strategies in order to facilitate the students' understanding of process skills and Islamic characteristics. Education is one of the efforts to improve the intelligence of the next generation of a nation. Education is considered an important and strategic factor in national development, with efforts oriented towards improving the quality of human resources. In dealing with problems in social life, of course, every student needs to develop process skills. The process skills of each student will be honed by itself if students have the will to be better. It relates to physical and mental skills that result in good attitudes and processes. This study aims to determine the relationship between students' analytical thinking and process skills using the problem based learning model and the problem solving model, and to find out the differences between students' analytical thinking and process skills using the model and the problem solving model. This research uses quantitative research with associative and comparative types of research. For this type of associative research, descriptive statistical tests are used, while for this type of comparative research, assumptions and hypothesis tests are used. The sampling technique used is purvosive sampling with the criteria of students studying mathematics on circle material, the samples taken are 180 students. The results showed that there was a relationship between analytical thinking and student process skills with the problem based learning and problem solving models besides that there was a comparison between analytical thinking and student process skills in both schools. The implication of this research is that the application of the learning model can be used as a means to develop students' analytical thinking skills and process skills in mathematics.
