Este texto apresenta o dossiê “A infância Urbana nas ciências sociais: problemáticas e desafios metodológicos”. Seu objetivo é situar as principais questões que caracterizam os estudos das relações entre a infância e a cidade. Em uma primeira parte, indicamos como os estudos urbanos (Seixas 2003; Harvey 2008; Fernandez Martorell 2009) e os estudos da infância (Balagopalan 2019; Castro Seixas 2021; Sarmento 2018) assumem interfaces na análise de temáticas como: o direito à cidade pelas crianças; apropriação do espaço e participação infantil na cidade; desigualdades socioterritoriais e infância; e as crianças como atores políticos na cidade. Na segunda parte, sugerimos uma breve sistematização dos textos, em diálogo com pesquisadores portugueses, espanhóis, brasileiros, argentinos e ingleses colocando em evidência a interdisciplinaridade e a denúncia. Busca-se, com este trabalho, colaborar nos debates contemporâneos sobre as múltiplas infâncias urbanas que se constroem nos diferentes espaços da cidade e nas diferentes cidades do mundo evidenciando desafios metodológicos e epistemológicos e éticos.
