Although considerable strides have been made in understanding, diagnosing, and treating obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), not all groups have benefited from these advances. OCD in ethnic and racial minority groups has beenand continues to be -a neglected area of study. The last 15 years of research has shed new light on OCD in African Americans, with some fascinating findings and new questions to answer. This review describes barriers to treatment, such as low income, reduced access to care, racism, and mental health stigma. Also addressed are cultural differences in symptomology, test and measurement issues, and family factors in the development and maintenance of the disorder. Implications of findings to date are discussed, as well as unstudied areas of concern, such as treatment efficacy and African American youth with OCD.

Objective to explore the impact of self-efficacy and parents' personality traits on the family functioning in the students of First and Second grade. Method Four hundred parents randomly selected from 4 private primary schools in Tangxia, Dongguan were measured with General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES), Big Five Aspect Scale(NEO-FFI) and Family Adapation and Cohension Scale, Second Edition-Chinese Version （FACESII-CV）. Result Firstly, most students have a Intermediate family. There are significant differences between groups with high family functioning and groups with low family functioning in each dimension of NEO-FFI except openness and self-efficacy(P<0.001). Both neuroticism and conscientiousness play significant roles in predicting family cohension (P<0.001). The following four vaiables of neuroticism, conscientiousness, openness and general self-efficacy play significant roles in predicting family adaptability (P<0.001). Conclusion There is significant correlation between the results of family functioning and the self-efficacy, and personality traits of parents.

Background: Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is considered to be a significant impairment in childhood and adolescence. According to cognitive theories, parents' external criticism and emotional self-regulation are among the variables that can directly or indirectly affect obsessive beliefs. Objective: The present study aimed to examine the mediating role of emotional self-regulation in the relationship between parents' external criticism and obsessive beliefs in adolescents. Methods: In this study, 547 high school students aged between 15 and 18 years were selected using multi-stage cluster random sampling. An obsessive beliefs questionnaire-child version (OBQ-CV), a self-regulatory orientations scale, and a perceived criticism questionnaire were used to collect data. Pearson's correlation was used to investigate the relationship between the study variables. For analysis of the mediation model, structural equation modeling using the AMOS software was employed. Results: The fitness indices for the four-factor structure of the OBQ, two-factor structure of the emotional self-regulation instrument, and single-factor structure of parents' external criticism were reported as favorable [root mean square error of approximation (RMSEA) < 0.1]. External criticism was associated only indirectly with obsessive beliefs through emotional self-regulation. The two variables of emotional self-regulation and external criticism explained 47% of the variance in obsessive beliefs.
