The walnut fruit diaphragm (WFD) is an economically and ecologically important by‐product of the Juglandaceae family. Components in the ethanolic extract of WFD (E‐WFD) were identified by gas chromatography‐mass spectroscopy (GC‐MS). In our study, the lipid‐lowering effect, antioxidant potential, and anti‐inflammatory properties of E‐WFD in the blood, heart, and liver tissues of rats (♂, Wistar) with hyperlipidemia caused by Triton WR‐1339 were determined using biochemical, histopathological, and molecular techniques. Experimental animals for analysis are as follows: K1: healthy control group, K2: E‐WFD (150 mg, o.d.), K3: E‐WFD (300 mg, o.d.), K4: HL (hyperlipidemic group) (400 mg kg–1 Triton WR‐1339, i.p.), K5: HL + E‐WFD (300 mg) grouped as (n = 6). After the application, anti‐hyperlipidemic analysis (TC, TG, LDL‐C, HDL‐C, ALT, and AST), oxidative stress (MDA, SOD, and CAT) parameters measurement, histopathological examinations, and inflammatory biomarker genes (Tnf‐α, Il‐6, Il‐1β, Mmp‐2, Mmp‐9, Lxr‐α and Srebp‐1c) expression stability were determined by q‐RT PCR. With the E‐WFD application, there was a decrease in TC and TG levels and an increase in HDL‐C. Oxidative stress decreased by changing MDA, SOD, and CAT levels. Histopathological deterioration in the tissues changed positively. In addition, E‐WFD showed significant inhibitory properties on Tnf‐α, Il‐6, Il‐1β, Mmp‐2, Mmp‐9, Lxr‐α, and Srebp‐1c genes.Practical applications: It is known that hyperlipidemia causes a wide range of diseases. In this study, the effect of walnut fruit diaphragm (WFD) ethanol extract was compared against the effect of Triton WR‐1339‐induced hyperlipidemia on rats. With the use of WFD, the damages caused by hyperlipidemia were significantly ameliorated. Accordingly, it is expected to contribute to the pharmacology, food and cosmetic industries as a very valuable alternative product.]

The article deals with the influence of Globigen® Pig Doser and Globigen® Jump Start products, which contain specific Ig Y, which is characterized by pronounced immunostimulating properties. A comprehensive analysis of the use and influence of these agents on the morphological and biochemical indicators of the blood of young pigs under conditions of intensive technologies under different methods of cultivation in different periods of their growth and development – 30, 60, and 120 days – was carried out. It was set that the use of the proposed means had a prolonged positive effect, which concerning hematological indicators, mainly appeared by an increase in the number of erythrocytes and the concentration of hemoglobin in the blood of experimental groups of animals of both farms of all age periods. It is worth noting that in the farm with single-phase breeding of pigs (FE PE “Glynyany Agro”) under the influence of Globigen®Pig Doser, the number of erythrocytes in the blood of animals was increased and, corresponding to the physiological norm, fluctuated between 7.09 and 7.43 T/l, and the concentration of hemoglobin, having reached the maximum value, in the blood of all experimental groups of animals was 108.62–112.77 g/l. In the farm, which practices three-phase pig breeding (“Meat Resources” Ltd.), under the influence of Globigen® Pig Doser, a pronounced effect has appeared in animals 60 and 120 days old; the number of erythrocytes in their blood was increased to 7.46–7.69 T/l, and under the influence of Globigen® Jump Start, a tendency to a gradual increase in hemoglobin concentration was observed, which stopped at 99.28 g/l in 120-day-old piglets. Evaluating the level of protein metabolism in animals under the influence of Globigen® Pig Doser and Globigen® Jump Start, a tendency to increase the total protein content, compared to the control, in the blood of animals in all age periods in both farms was set. It was noted that under the action of Globigen®Jump Start, the total protein content in the blood of 120-day-old piglets from a farm with single-phase farming (FE PE “Glynyany Agro”) was 76.38 g/l, and in a farm with three-phase farming (Ltd. “Meat resources”) 75.08 g/l. In addition, it was set that the normalization of the ratio of protein fractions, in particular, the use of Globigen® Pig Doser and Globigen® Jump Start, increased the synthesis of albumin and normalized gamma-globulin to the level of the physiological norm. The “Glynyany Agro” FE found a more pronounced effect with single-phase piglet rearing. It was concluded that Globigen® Pig Doser and Globigen® Jump Start positively influence maintaining body homeostasis.

Flavanones in Citrus unshiu peel (CUP) have been used as therapeutic agents to reduce intestinal inflammation; however, the anti-inflammatory effects of their biometabolites remain ambiguous. Here, we identified aglycone-type flavanones, such as hesperetin and naringenin, which were more abundant in the bioconversion of the CUP than in the ethanol extracts of the CUP. We found that the bioconversion of the CUP induced the canonical nuclear factor-κB pathway via degradation of IκB in Caco-2 cells. To check the immune suppressive capacity of the aglycones of the CUP in vivo, we orally administered the bioconversion of the CUP (500 mg/kg) to mice for two weeks prior to the 3% dextran sulfate sodium treatment. The CUP-pretreated group showed improved body weight loss, colon length shortage, and intestinal inflammation than the control mice. We also found a significant decrease in the population of lamina propria Th17 cells in the CUP-pretreated group following dextran sodium sulfate (DSS) treatment and an increase in mRNA levels of occludin in CUP-treated Caco-2 cells. Pyrosequencing analysis revealed a decreased abundance of Alistipes putredinis and an increased abundance of Muribaculum intestinale in the feces of the CUP-pretreated mice compared to those of the control mice. Overall, these findings suggest that the pre-administration of CUP biometabolites may inhibit the development of murine colitis by modulating intestinal permeability and the gut microbiome.
