The Evolution of Biochemical Indices After Basal Cell Epithelioma Removal - Case Report

In recent years, numerous scientific research papers have focused on the analysis of immunological, biochemical, ultrastructural, molecular and genetic factors that govern the clinical aspects of basal cell carcinomas. This retrospective study was carried out in the Clinical Department of Dermatovenerology at the County Emergency Clinical Hospital “Sf. Apostol Andrei”, Constanta. The research included a total of 140 patients treated in the clinic, with a diagnosis of basal cell epithelioma. We analyzed several biochemical and hematological markers including creatinine, male HDL cholesterol, female HDL cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, urea, serum glucose. More than half of patients with BCC present data of possible hepatic impairment and high atherogenic risk.

Biochemical and Cytological Changes in Patients with Hepatic Cirrhosis

Liver cirrhosis is the common final pathway of many diseases and is the third leading cause of mortality. Biochemical and cytological data, together with imaging data interpreted in the context of clinical data, have an important weight in formulating the diagnosis, establishing the prognosis and controlling the therapy. We have carried out a comparative biochemical and cytological study of the blood serum and ascites fl uid from 30 patients with liver cirrhosis aged between 35–70 years admitted to the medical and surgical wards 1 of Constanța County Clinical Hospital, the study was carried out over a period of one year, the analyzes were performed in the Biomedical laboratory. We correlated the following biochemical parameters in these patients: albumin, LDH, TGO, TGP, total bilirubin, from the blood serum, the INR from the plasma and those that can be dosed in the ascites fl uid, as well as the cytological aspects, in order to detect the malignant transformation of liver cirrhosis in view of the early establishment of an appropriate treatment.

Electron Microscopy Study of Nodular Basal Cell Carcinoma

The electron microscopic study represent the changes in the skin layers in the malignant tumor, the nodular basal cell epithelioma. Comparisons were made between normal cells found in the normal skin at the periphery of the tumor, the cells located near the tumor and the tumors located in the depth of the carcinoma. The microscopic analysis of the tumor formation revealed the characteristics of the pigmented nodular basal cell epitheliu. To the exterior of the carcinoma were evidenced numerous globular formations limiting the peripheral extension of the tumor, which explains its evolution in years.
