Electron microscopic examination of a spinal meningioma demonstrated broad zones with large amianthoid collagen fibers in the tumor. Normal native collagen fibrils were found in small scattered clumps particularly around the blood vessels in the tumor. Such abnormal large collagen fibrils have not been seen previously in meningiomas. The significance of the amianthoid fibers is unknown. The only other unusual feature of the tumor was that it had many pale-staining cells by light microscopy and was classified as a clear cell variant of meningioma.
Abstract. The paper proposes new exposure data on etiopathogenesis basal cell epithelioma and present a clinical case investigated dermatoscopic, biochemically, treated surgically and guided to avoid relapses. The case presented is part of typical cases of pigmented basal cell carcinoma. Biochemical and haematological investigations performed one day before the excisional intervention (results 1) and 30 days (results 2) after the intervention: It is recommended to monitor biochemical investigations in which alterations were found, and ways for raising the immunological status.
The electron microscopic study represent the changes in the skin layers in the malignant tumor, the nodular basal cell epithelioma. Comparisons were made between normal cells found in the normal skin at the periphery of the tumor, the cells located near the tumor and the tumors located in the depth of the carcinoma. The microscopic analysis of the tumor formation revealed the characteristics of the pigmented nodular basal cell epitheliu. To the exterior of the carcinoma were evidenced numerous globular formations limiting the peripheral extension of the tumor, which explains its evolution in years.
CARCINOID OF THE THYMUS IS A RARE PROBLEM A case is reported to add to only 16 previously reported. None of these 17 patients had the carcinoid syndrome. Complete surgical excision, if possible, is the treatment of choice.
