This research aimed to investigate students’ voices regarding the complexities that contribute to challenges and the coping strategies that address academic writing challenges they use in academic writing. Through a qualitative method, four female students majoring in English Education in the eighth semester at a private university in Indonesia were chosen as participants in this study's interview. Data analysis techniques employed include analyzing the data, coding the data, and interpreting the data. The findings indicated that twelve complexities contributed, namely learners’ low motivation, lack of lecturers’ feedback, lack of translation, lack of references, lack of time, lack of research background, low students' self-confidence, lack of experience in writing, lack of proficiency in reading, lack of critical thinking skill, lack of proper preparation in writing, and lack of a supportive writing learning environment. Students used twelve coping strategies for organization, ideas development, vocabulary, grammar, and mechanics. These strategies included exercises, feedback, reading academic papers, extensive reading, Google Translate, QuillBot, Grammarly, and Mendeley for arranging academic style. In recent years, QuillBot, an AI-powered writing assistance tool, has gained significant attention within the academic writing sphere due to its innovative features to enhance productivity and improve the quality of written content. This study, employing the systematic literature review method, aims to explore the use of QuillBot in academic writing. A total of seventeen research publications published between 2018 and 2024 were included in this study. These articles were gathered from reliable databases such as Google Scholar, Semantic Scholar, ResearchGate, Emerald Insight Journals, Springer, ScienceDirect, and Taylor & Francis. The findings discovered that, while users value its time-saving features, concerns regarding overreliance and potentially hindering critical skills development exist. QuillBot significantly enhances writing quality and efficiency by detecting errors, paraphrasing, and expanding vocabulary. It also addresses language barriers and plagiarism concerns. Additionally, its function as a complement to autonomous writing and critical thinking was highlighted, and caution against over-reliance was suggested. Therefore, further research is needed to examine its influence on academic performance, effectiveness across linguistic contexts, and function in writing instruction.

To address these challenges and enhance their academic experience, higher education institutions are increasingly exploring the use of artificial intelligence (AI) applications. This research essay aims to investigate the impact of AI on the education of international students. Instead of a traditional literature review, it employs a research approach to examine the potential applications of AI and discuss associated concerns. The research paper explores various AI applications, such as personalized learning experiences, adaptive testing, predictive analytics, and chatbots for learning and research. By analyzing the role of AI in education for international students, this research paper sheds light on how AI can improve learning efficiency and provide customized educational support. Additionally, it identifies significant risks and limitations, including privacy concerns, cultural differences, language proficiency, and ethical implications, which must be effectively addressed. The findings contribute to a better understanding of the potential impact of AI on international students’ educational experiences and offer insights into the integration of AI into educational administration and learning processes.
