The Effect of Several Service and Weathering Parameters on Tensile Properties of PVC Pipe Materials

Abstract: For water and sewer pipes, PVC is considered to be one of the best row materials. Due to its physical, chemical and industrial significant properties, PVC is commercially invited to be in the first position. Many other traditional raw materials; e.g. iron, concrete, polyethylene and vitrified clay (VC), are coming in second position. This work is conducted to study the tensile properties of two different types of PVC raw materials (named as gray and white) for water pipe manufacturing by implementing different… Show more

“…2− 3%), which is associated with the UV-induced cross-linking among the PVC chains. 52 The cross-linking of PCEM-g-CNC may be verified by FTIR. However, the vibrations of uncrosslinked PCEM and cross-linked PCEM overlapped; therefore, it is difficult to precisely quantify the cross-linking degree by FTIR and DMA.…”

“…(1) Element and material: The PVC pipe was simulated by a three-dimensional shell element and the elastic-plastic constitutive model was adopted for PVC pipe. According to the experimental research and numerical simulation of previous scholars [12,28,29], the elastic modulus can be taken as 3000 MPa and the compressive yield strength and tensile yield strength are 86.71 MPa and 51.58 MPa, respectively. The finite element model of the PVC pipe is shown in Figure 3, and the pipe parameters are listed in Table 1.…”

“…Due to its considerable physical, chemical, and industrial significant qualities, PVC is commercially invited to be in the top position than other conventional raw materials e.g., iron, concrete, polyethylene, and vitrified clay (VC) (Saad et al, 2012). Since early 20 th century, PVC was frequently utilized for outdoor applications, including in around 39% of piping systems for various purposes (Saad et al, 2012). In this work, waste PVC was characterized by attenuated total eflection-Fourier transform infrared (ATR-FTIR) and physical analyses.…”
