Gas diffusion electrodes are essential components of common fuel and electrolysis cells but are typically made from graphitic carbon or metallic materials, which do not allow light transmittance and thus limit the development of gas‐phase based photoelectrochemical devices. Herein, the simple and scalable preparation of F‐doped SnO2 (FTO) coated SiO2 interconnected fiber felt substrates is reported. Using 2–5 µm diameter fibers at a loading of 4 mg cm−2, the resulting substrates have porosity of 90%, roughness factor of 15.8, and Young's Modulus of 0.2 GPa. A 100 nm conformal coating of FTO via atmospheric chemical vapor deposition gives sheet resistivity of 20 ± 3 Ω sq−1 and loss of incident light of 41% at illumination wavelength of 550 nm. The coating of various semiconductors on the substrates is established including Fe2O3 (chemical bath deposition), CuSCN and Cu2O (electrodeposition), and conjugated polymers (dip coating), and liquid‐phase photoelectrochemical performance commensurate with flat FTO substrates is confirmed. Finally, gas phase H2 production is demonstrated with a polymer semiconductor photocathode membrane assembly at 1‐Sun photocurrent density on the order of 1 mA cm−2 and Faradaic efficiency of 40%.

Gypsum is a common interior construction material, especially when used as a finishing element. However, interest in prospective uses of gypsum as a finishing component has diminished in recent years as a result of its weak mechanical strength and brittle character, which is essential in interior construction. Therefore, to overcome this challenge, the effect of pineapple leaf fiber on gypsum was investigated. Five different composite configurations of 2%, 3%, 5%, 10%, and 20% pineapple leaf fibre (PALF) with two PALF sizes of 5 mm and 15 mm were prepared and tested after 7 and 28 days of curing. The results of the tests show that materials reinforced with 2% PALF have significantly improved mechanical properties. The compressive strength of a gypsum composite increased by 12.4% when 2% PALF was added. Flexural strength increased by 59% when 2% PALF was added to the mixture. The study provided a means of making gypsum composites having greater mechanical strength than those made from fossil oil-based polymers. It also found relevant use of pineapple leaf, an agricultural waste.

The exploration of generic science skills in solving chemistry problems can be influenced by various factors, one of which is gender bias in the learning process. This research aims to measure students' generic skills in solving chemistry problems based on gender. This study is quantitative descriptive research with a pre-experimental method using a One-Shot Case Study design. The sample consists of 20 eleventh-grade students, with 10 male students and 10 female students, selected based on gender and the taught material. Data collection techniques include measurement techniques, observation techniques, and interview techniques. The data analysis technique used is quantitative descriptive analysis. The results of the research show difference in the scores of generic science skills between female and male students. Female students have higher scores in direct observation indicators (80 vs. 79) and logical inference (83 vs. 79). However, there is no significant difference in the cause-and-effect law indicator (74 vs. 74). Meanwhile, male students have a slight advantage in the abstraction indicator (67 vs. 66) and concept building (76 vs. 74). Of the five indicators examined in the form of tests, the abstraction indicator obtains the lowest score, while the highest score is in the logical inference indicator. From these results, there is no significant difference in the generic science skills of male and female students.
