A study was conducted to analyse the ethical climate typology of the Ethical Climate Questionnaire empirically, in order to develop a unique South African typology. This typology was tested for the equivalence of the construct between the private and public sector. A three ethical climate type solution was found (in contrast with the initial nine, and later five type typology). The results suggest that the construct is equivalent for both the private and public sectors. The findings could therefore be used as a foundation for future studies, as well as for ethical climate measurement within the South African context.

AbstractThe study aimed at determining the relationship between ethical climate and trust and motivation levels of teachers and students. The sample of this study consists of 200 teachers and 621 students in 35 middle schools that were selected randomly from the middle schools at Hatay's Kırıkhan district at 2012-2013 academic year. Quantitative analyses were performed after matching the studentteacher dyads. Besides, 30 teachers and 10 students were interviewed through two separate semistructured interview form. Qualitative findings were analyzed through content analysis method. According to study findings, ethical climate has a positive effect on teachers' trust in students, students' trust in teachers and teachers' motivation levels, however, does not have a significant effect on students' motivation levels. Controlling for ethical climate, neither teachers' trust in students nor students' trust in teachers has a significant effect on motivation levels of two counterparts. The another finding of this study indicates that ethical climate increases trust and motivation levels of both teachers and students. It would be helpful for school managers to try building an ethical climate in their schools if they want to create a trust-based environment in their schools and to motivate their employees.

Structural equation analysis with AMOS software utilized to examine the relationships between two-dimension ethical climate and task-focused interpersonal helping behavior. The result shows that a) other-focused moral reasoning ethical climate (OEC) is an important predictor of employees' task-focused interpersonal helping behavior, and b) self-focused moral reasoning ethical climate (SEC) alone is not related with task-focused helping behavior, however, c) when accompany with OEC, SEC become significantly and positively related with taskfocused helping behavior. This finding indicates that OEC plays a very curial role, it works like a kind of catalyzer or guarantee, which not only positive effect the helping behavior by itself, but also can turn SEC positive effect helping behavior.
