This study analyzes the strengths and weaknesses of the professional e-portfolio as a tool for preparing students in higher education to enter the labor market. It also examines students’ level of planning to enter professional employment, and the help that they receive with this task from the university. The research is quantitative and observes the students’ opinions before and after they create their own professional e-portfolio, as a case study. We used the analysis of means to determine the trend in the aspects analyzed over time, and the Student’s t-test and Cohen’s d to determine the effect size. We also performed correlation analysis between the different categories and subcategories proposed. The results show that the e-portfolio is a tool with strengths for labor market entry, while also revealing the weaknesses that students find in it. At the very least, the e-portfolio was useful to the students in planning their entry into the workforce. The correlations show high levels among the strengths but not among the weaknesses analyzed.

Professional practice is fundamental because it represents the link between theoretical training and the application of skills and knowledge in the professional field. In March 2020, howe- ver, COVID-19 obliged teaching staff to redesign their professional practicums to ensure that they satisfied the requirements established for their training activities. In this context, digital portfolios were seen as a fundamental tool. The main aim of this article is to analyse the usefulness of the digital portfolio as a learning tool for the supervision of students taking part in practicums as part of their Master’s in Social Intervention at the Public University of Navarre. Our research methodo- logy involves a qualitative case study in which we analysed digital portfolios prepared by students during the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 academic years. We show that, as a supervision tool, these port- folios have more strengths than weaknesses. Moreover, our conclusions provide numerous useful suggestions for improving the future use of these portfolios.

In the presence of the pandemic caused by covid-19, digital platforms were implemented to continue with the education processes from isolation. In the case of higher education that imparts various areas of knowledge, different results were identified in the use of the same digital platforms. In response to this, it was necessary to analyze how the technological characteristics implemented at a higher level in Mexico have influenced the participation, attendance and evaluation of students by area of knowledge. Therefore, a data envelopment analysis was performed to measure the efficiency of the inputs and outputs described by the literature; the limitations of the research was circumscribed by the amount of data to be analyzed. As a result, it was identified that the greater the number of features added to the digital platforms, the better levels of participation, attendance and evaluation of students by academic area. Likewise, when considering future lines of research, it is considered ideal to elaborate on the various methods of digital evaluation, such as the digital portfolio and feedback.
