Indonesia is rich in local wisdoms, including in fisheries management. Fisheries management by applying local wisdom is an effort to utilize fisheries resource based on traditional noble values designated to people’s welfare. Research aims to collect and analyse local wisdoms related to fisheries management in Indonesia, the concepts offered, their advantages and disadvantages, as well as efforts for their conservation. Method applied in this research is literature review, main articles collected from international and national journals, and other relevant resources as supportive data. Analysis on 24 articles show that there are 3 fisheries local wisdoms which have been researched the most: Panglima Laot-Adat Laot, kewang-sasi, and awig-awig. Panglima Laot in Aceh is considered to be the one that has strong concept and more advantages as compared to others. However, violations to its customary law still take places. Noted also that researches are not exploring the perspective of the people who are regulated by related local wisdoms. Efforts to conserve local wisdoms by building the capacity and integrating their values into formal law as management model is required. Increasing violations against Panglima Laot-Adat Laot customary law, thus, suggest research to explore people’s current perspective toward local wisdom.

Traditional beliefs based on religion have served as a direction for people's lives in interpreting life. Life guidelines received from good education might represent wise methods of dealing with nature. This study aimed: (1) to examine the tradition of using cave water in the Mandati and Wanci tribes, (2) to examine the traditional value and meaning to develop sustainable ecotourism. The research used a qualitative descriptive method with an ethnographic approach to explain facts, meanings, and traditional values of using cave water. Data were obtained through participant observation, in-depth interviews, documentation, and literature study. Data were analyzed using triangulation. Informants were selected from various groups: traditional leaders, government, community leaders. The reseach revealed that there are four traditions that use water go for traditional purposes, namely: (1) Ufe Karia Mbo'u Mbo'u, (2) Ufe Karia Ntooge/Hoporuku, (3) Ufe Heraha Kuni, and (4) Ufe Kafi (Wedding traditional water). The tribes believed that cave water was highly beneficial for healing, bringing blessings and health, fortune, and for the soul. The cave water is specifically used for Ufe Karia, which symbolizes native behavior in keeping the cave's culture, rituals, and water resources. The community used this tradition to purify, protect and baptize Wakatobi children in preparation for adulthood. Moreover, the wisdom in this tradition aimed to support ecotourism in Wakatobi Regency.

Background: Bamboo forests provides benefits for nature and the welfare of the people of Turen in Malang Regency and Sumbermujur in Lumajang Regency. They interact with the forest to live through the development of forest potential based on local wisdom. This is believed to prevent various adverse impacts on the forest. Local wisdom is related to beliefs or/and taboos, ethics and rules, techniques and technology, as well as forest/ land management traditions carried out by the community in building, managing forests, and Turen springs in Malang Regency and Sumbermujur in Lumajang Regency. Therefore, it is important to study the potential of bamboo forests in Turen and Sumbermujur for ecotourism, the development of bamboo forest ecotourism in Turen and Sumbermujur based on local wisdom, and the potential of bamboo forests in Turen and Sumbermujur in sustainable spring conservation. Results: Bamboo forest ecotourism has become an attractive tourist attraction. It is also beneficial for environmental conservation and the welfare of the surrounding community. The potential of bamboo forests in ecotourism development consists of various types of old bamboo that are fertile which offer environmentally friendly tourism activities by prioritizing aspects of nature conservation and socio-cultural empowerment of the local community. This cannot be separated from the belief that bamboo has supernatural powers (as a protector), so they do not dare to take or damage the existing bamboo. This behavior has a positive impact on springs that are still sustainable. Conclusions: Therefore, the charm of the bamboo forest is a potential that can be developed through ecotourism based on local wisdom. The development of bamboo forest ecotourism based on local wisdom is able to meet the living needs of the surrounding community.
