Abstract: The complex estimation of ambient air in Novokuibyshevsk is fullfilled. Negative impact of pollutions on public health (benzo(a)pyrene and formaldehyde) is considered. Introduction. A Hormon-like agent such as phenol is able both to integrate into the work of hypothalamus-pituitary-ovary system and trigger a cascade of responses that leads to the development of the immune, hormonal and endocrine systems disorder. Material and methods. The study included 181 woman who permanently live in the area with contamination with phenol in air above standard level. All women are comparable in age, material status and ethnicity. Immunological and hormonal indices were determined by enzyme immunoassay, genetic markers were detected by polymerase chain reaction. Statistical data processing was carried out with the soffware Statistica 10.0, using parametric and non-parametric methods. Results. Between the study groups there were obtained significant differences in following markers: thyroid-stimulating hormone, serotonin, interleukin 6, interleukin 10, estradiol. The dependence of appearance of unfavorable reproductive effects on the presence of polymorphic allele’s was determined: A allele of a gene SULT1A1, G allele of a gene PER2, C allele of a gene SIRT1. Correlation models are defined: thyroid-stimulating hormone and phenol, serotonin and phenol, thyroid-stimulating hormone and cresol, serotonin and cresol, estradiol and cresol. Conclusion. All found markers (increased concentration of phenol in biological media, gene polymorphism, altered protein and receptor expression) create special conditions for the course of the miscarriage pathology.

Background: People living in the vicinity of large industrial enterprises are known to be exposed to adverse anthropogenic fac tors. Ambient air pollution is one of the main health risks for the population residing in the areas of oil refining and petrochemical industries. In the study district of the city of Samara, the priority air contaminants, principally emitted by motor vehicles and industrial premises, include sulfur dioxide, sulfuric acid, nitrogen dioxide, hydrocarbons, hydrogen sulfide, and benzene. Objective: To assess health risks for the population heavily exposed to airborne chemicals in the city of Samara. Methods: The study was conducted in 2018–2020 in the Kuybyshevsky district of Samara, Russian Federation. Its first stage included hazard identification, i.e. detection of potentially adverse factors, ranking of priority air pollutants having both carcinogenic and non-carcinogenic effects and subject to subsequent risk characterization, and the analysis of xenobiotic con centrations in 7,568 ambient air samples. The next stage included population health risk assessment, the results of which were summarized to group the levels of carcinogenic and non-carcinogenic risks by pollutants, routes and pathways of exposure, and target organs. Results: We established that the total carcinogenic risk for the population of the industrial district lay within the second rangeof reference limits and was mainly attributed to inhalation exposure to hexavalent chromium and benzene. The total non-car cinogenic hazard index in the community was < 3 for the group of priority pollutants consisting of sulfur oxide, nitrogen dioxide, hydrocarbons, and benzene emitted by local oil refineries and petrochemical plants. Conclusions: We obtained permissible risk values for all ambient air contaminants of the industrial district of Samara taken separately. In view of multiplicity of airborne pollutants, however, it is expedient to consider health risks from their combined exposure.

Introduction. In the the industrialized regions of the Russian Federation one of the hygienic problems is the formation of additional morbidity among the population associated with intense air pollution. The purpose of the work is to study the health disorders in children under conditions of aerogenic chemical exposure in terms of primary morbidity. Materials and methods. Analysis of the primary morbidity of the children population (data from state statistical reporting and actual seeking medical care in 2017–2021); the content of the main chemical pollutants in the atmospheric air in residential buildings (data from social and hygienic monitoring and the regular observation network of Roshydromet for 2016–2020 according to the content of twenty two impurities); chronic non-carcinogenic risk; connection of diseases with aerogenic chemical exposure according to epidemiological indicators; economic assessment of predicted losses. Results. Comparing to the reference area, the level of primary morbidity in children with diseases of the respiratory system, digestion, kidneys, nervous system, osteoarticular apparatus, associated with aerogenic exposure to chemical pollutants, was established to be an increased by up to 3.4 times. In the atmospheric air of residential buildings, the content of a number of chemicals (metals, aromatic and fluorine-containing inorganic compounds) was found to be increased by 6.9 times and 4.0 times relative to the average daily and maximum one-time maximum permissible concentrations, respectively, and within the hygienic standards. The formed exposure causes an unacceptable risk of developing non-carcinogenic effects (HI up to 18.7 times) in relation to target organs. Additional morbidity in the children population (about 1.5 thousand cases per year) has been identified in the event of which the projected economic losses will amount to about 10 million rubles over year. Limitations. The study includes the children population under the age of 14 years. Conclusion. The primary morbidity of children in regions with developed industrial infrastructure is characterized by special random events associated with aerogenic exposure to risk factors. Projected additional losses require priority regulatory action.
