“…Several authors (Beritelli et al, 2015;Steiner, 2015;Beritelli et al, 2019;Klimek, 2019) consider the St. Gallen Model for Destination Management correct for destination management based on tourism flows, therefore, our study was focused on developing the 3 rd generation DMO according to tourism flows via the St. Gallen Model. Through the survey, we also confirmed the opinions of the authors UNWTO (2018), Bowen and Sotomayor (2022), Wagenseil, Wyss and Huck (2022), according to which strategic planning from the DMO position is one of the pillars of the sustainable tourism development, on the basis of which we propose the creation of one DMO for the researched region. The creation of one DMO can also support the cooperation of stakeholders in the destination, which we consider to be a key aspect for success in the tourism market, similar to the authors Roxas, Rivera and Gutierrez (2020), Errichiello and Micera (2021), González-Torres, Rodríguéz-Sánchez and Pelechano-Barahona (2021).…”

“…Destination management organizations are essential to encouraging and supporting sustainable economic growth within the tourism sector in Atlantic Canada in the face of climate change [28]. The primary duties of DMOs are covered in this section, along with how they assist and incentivize tourist operators in implementing sustainable practices [4]. In many areas, DMOs can attain funding for both internal development and for the development of coordinated events and programming [29].…”

“…This is because DMOs are increasingly expected to advise local level governance systems and tourism stakeholders on aspects of tourism strategy, policy, planning, and response to change. Efficient planning and management procedures, as well as collaborative efforts, are necessary due to the intricate nature of both sustainable development and tourism [4]. Thus, in order to effectively accomplish a shift towards sustainable tourism, a coordinating agency is essential.…”

“…Finally, it is important to point out that, considering the increasing role of DMOs in the development of sustainable tourism in the destination (Wagenseil et al 2022) and the importance of websites in the promotion of sustainable tourism, products and behaviours, academics paid attention to evaluating the sustainability of communication through the analysis of websites' contents published by destinations (d'Angella and De Carlo 2016;Marchi et al 2021;Elizondo Saltos et al 2021;Tanković and Mušanović 2022). Previous studies highlighted that tourism organisations lack an appropriate online approach oriented towards sustainability and that in some cases the tourism organisations do not fully utilise their websites to motivate customers to behave more sustainably (Garbelli et al 2017;Villarino and Font 2015;Ghanem and Elgammal 2017).…”
