“…Elderly individuals may have the MPT changed, as well as reducing the amount of air available 11,15,16 , impairing the aerodynamic forces required for speech. Thus, it is assumed that there is an association between the two measures.…”

“…Regarding BMI, there was no significant association between the MPT and the ė/e ratio, showing that, in the study group, BMI did not influence the children's vocal production and control of respiratory muscles 1,15,16 . Such data converge with the data presented in the correlation analysis between BMI and MPT, showing that, despite the correlation coefficient proving negative, i.e., as BMI increases, MPT decreases, as expected, there is no statistical relevance for this finding.…”

“…Since it does not have an articulation obstruction in its issue, the non-voiced issue is considered the most appropriate to assess the expiratory control of the progressive air output for phonation 1,3,4 . Thus, the relationship between MPT/ė/, which assesses the respiratory level performance, and the MPT/e/, which, for being a voiced phoneme, enables the verification of the glottal efficiency, assesses the interaction between the glottal and respiratory levels 1,3,15,16 . In this study, there was no difference between age groups for the MPT/ė/, the MPT/e/ and the ė/e ratio.…”

“…However, most voice professional subjects (minority in the sample) did not present SS changes, but the predominant respiratory type was mixed and the type of dysphonia was functional (Table 5). In the voice professional, an impairment that affects the air function can negatively influence loudness, pitch and voice quality as well as the temporal aspects of emission 2,10,16,17,20,21 .…”
