“…To ensure a sustainable energy strategy in Morocco, the implementation of energy storage solutions adapted to the Moroccan context is essential. As well as developing mature solutions such as PETSs and CSP storage [65] , it is time to achieve benchmarks with new technologies such as lithium batteries and storage via hydrogen [66] as part of the ambitious Power-To-X techniques in the R&D phase.…”

“…In the case of CSP plants that operate at low temperatures (i.e., between 170 and 300 • C), intermittent energy supply is overcome by using intermediate temperature systems such as power storage systems. The Research Institute for Solar Energy and New Energies (IRESEN) is currently supervising the construction of a 1 MWe CSP plant for power generation (Solar Thermal Electricity), near Benguerir (Morocco), based on linear Fresnel collectors in the solar field and Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) technology operating on superheated cyclopentane (C 4 H 10 ) in the power block [77]. The low-cost thermocline system in direct configuration as energy storage management seems to be better than that of two-tank technology for small to medium size ORC solar power plants.…”

“…Bassetti et al [13] found that this technique enhances the yearly performance by about 19%. In another approach, Rodriguez et al [14] found that the use of a single thermocline tank has a similar performance to a two-tank design but it has a 30% lower investment cost.…”
