Tamoxifen Induces Apoptosis of <i>Leishmania major</i> Promastigotes in Vitro

Abstract: Tamoxifen is an antagonist of the estrogen receptor and currently used for the treatment of breast cancer. The current treatment of cutaneous leishmaniasis with pentavalent antimony compounds is not satisfactory.
