“…Among the various catalysts, zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8), featuring tetrahedrally coordinated Zn ions connected with 2-methyl imidazole (2-Mim) linkers, has gained attention as a promising candidate for heterogeneous catalyst in CO 2 cycloaddition reaction due to its high surface area, high thermal and chemical stabilities, and the presence of both Lewis acid (from the metal center) and Lewis base sites (from imidazole linker). Despite its potential, achieving high catalytic activity and facilitating reaction kinetics for ZIF-8 without additional additives such as cocatalysts and cosolvents remains a challenge. This may be attributed to a lack of active site population and the small pore size of microporous ZIF-8 (3.4 and 11.4 Å), which restricts the diffusion of epoxide substrates into the pore.…”
