Synthesis of Graphene Nanosheets through Spontaneous Sodiation Process

Abstract: Abstract:Graphene is one of the emerging materials in the nanotechnology industry due to its potential applications in diverse areas. We report the fabrication of graphene nanosheets by spontaneous electrochemical reaction using solvated ion intercalation into graphite. The current literature focuses on the fabrication of graphene using lithium metal. Our procedure uses sodium metal, which results in a reduction of costs. Using various characterization techniques, we confirmed the fabrication of graphene nanos… Show more

“…Wet-ball milling was used with both the Vibrio-Energy shaker mill [38] and a kitchen blender for further exfoliation [8]. The preparation of graphene, ink formulation and finally inkjet printing of the produced conductive ink is illustrated in Figure 1.The shear tension created by the steel balls helped further the exfoliation of graphene crystallites and led to the fabrication of high-quality FLG [38][39][40]. When using the Vibro-Energy (shaker) mill, 650 mg of graphite was mixed with 60 mg of BSA and was well dispersed in 35 mL of DI-H 2 O.…”

“…Moreover, the interlayer distance between the wave field and the crystalline plane was determined by using Bragg’s Equation (1) [ 50 ], where, θ , λ, n , and d are the scattering angle, the wavelength of the incident x-ray (1.54 Å), the order of reflection, and the interlayer distance, respectively. The interlayer distance of GO ~8.05 Å showed an agreement with reported work [ 51 , 52 ].…”

“…There has been an increased interest in the use of carbon-based materials for a number of innovative applications due to their very attractive mechanical, thermal and electrical properties [1,2]. The most notable among the carbon-based materials is graphene, the electrical properties of which are exploited in a number of applications at microwave [3,4] and terahertz frequencies [5,6].…”
