Synthesis of centimeter-size free-standing perovskite nanosheets from single-crystal lead bromide for optoelectronic devices

Abstract: Considerable attention has been drawn to the lead halide perovskites (LHPs) because of their outstanding optoelectronic characteristics. LHP nanosheets (NSs) grown from single crystalline lead halide possess advantages in device applications as they provide the possibility for control over morphology, composition, and crystallinity. Here, free-standing lead bromide (PbBr 2 ) single-crystalline NSs with sizes up to one centimeter are synthesized from solution. These NSs can be converted t… Show more

“…For 3D MAPX and mixed halides nanoplates, CVD is typically used to convert preformed lead halide nanoplates into MAPX crystals while retaining PbX 2 morphology. [128,131,132] PbX 2 nanoplates can be fabricated as freestanding thin films by physical vapor deposition, [133] hot casting [129] or in solution, which allow for the realization of much larger films. “…halide perovskites and derivatives are usually easier to manufacture than pure silicon and can also be used as strong luminescent materials for LEDs or as photodetectors [10). Single-c1ystal growth processes are already well described in the literature for hybrid and inorganic halide perovskites [11][12][13][14]. With solution-based growth, millimeters sized single-c1ystals can be obtained.…”

“…Organic–inorganic metal halide perovskites (OMHPs) with an OMX 3 (O = organic material, M = metal, and X = halide) structure have been intensively studied , for application as active materials in optoelectronic devices because of their unique luminescence properties, optical absorbing characteristics, high quantum yields, and high power conversion efficiencies. , For OMHPs and the corresponding micro- and nanostructures, distinctive exciton characteristics and long carrier diffusion lengths have been realized through doping and hybridization. Chemical vapor-phase deposition (CVD), , solution growth, and hybrid vapor-solution ,, methods have been used to synthesize high-quality OMHP systems. Recently, photoresponsive OMHPs have been applied in solar cells, , photodetectors, and light-emitting diodes (LEDs).…”
