Synthesis of 3-hydroxy-2H-iminolactones and 3-hydroxy-2H-pyrrol-2-ones from reaction between isocyanides and methyl-2-acetylacetoacetate

Abstract: A one pot synthesis of new lactam derivatives is reported from reactions between alkyl or aryl isocyanides and methyl 2-acetylacetoacetate in good yields.
