“…A new weak, broad band was observed in each product's IR spectrum between 2400 and 2800 cm −1 . This band was centered at 2703, 2695, and 2688 cm −1 in the PA, CLA, and CHL products, respectively, and was caused by intermolecular hydrogen bonding in the CT product [ [177] , [178] , [179] , [180] , [181] , [182] , [183] , [184] , [185] ]. The intermolecular hydrogen bonding also broadened the band originating from the stretching vibration of the O–H bond.…”

“…The latter possibility arises because these materials have a significant dipole moment. Although not common, intermolecular charge transfer absorption bands have been observed for several polyacene crystals, notably anthracene and tetracene, and for certain charge-transfer complexes. Both types of transition involve interactions between adjacent molecules and thereby differ markedly from Frenkel excitation. This lower-energy transition is considerably more pronounced for B(NO 2 ) than for B(I) but is not observed for B(H).…”

“…The bands observed at approximately 3425 cm −1 for the PA complex and at 3432 cm −1 for the DNBA complex are a result of the stretching vibration of ( + N-H⋯O − ) [64][65][66][67][68] and indicate the presence of hydrogen bonding in these complexes. Additionally, the IR spectra of these complexes are characterized by medium bands appearing in the region between 2400 and 2800 cm −1 .…”
