“…Therefore, it indicates that phosphor may be applied as white light emitting phosphor in white light-emitting diodes. In the literature, it was determined that similar results were obtained when we compared our study with ZrO 2 :Dy 3+ luminescent materials synthesized by a different method [72][73][74].…”

“…The host material also has a significant impact on the optical properties of doped ions, and zirconia (ZrO 2 ) has attractive mechanical and chemical properties, such as a high melting point (2700 °C), stability to light and heat, chemical stability, optical transparency, high refractive index, and high hardness, compared to common halides and sulfides. 20,21 ZrO 2 also has a high dielectric constant, wide forbidden band width (5.0 eV) and a lower phonon energy (470 cm −1 ) 22,23 than YAG (800 cm −1 ), which suggest that it should be a more favorable matrix for luminescence. 20,24 The low phonon energy increases the probability of radiative emission from electron jumps in doped rare earth ions and reduces the energy loss from non-radiative multiphonon relaxation.…”

“…Moreover, in 2015 a work on ZrO 2 , ZrO 2 :Dy 3+ and ZrO 2 :Dy 3+ + Gd 3+ films was published [68]. The synthesis and the characterization conditions were carried out as described in Reference [67].…”
