Synthesis, Characterization and Antibacterial Activityof Schiff Bases Derived from 4-Dimethylaminobenzaldehyde with Some Amino Acids and 4-Aminoantipyrine toward Cu (II), Ni (II), Co (II), Cd (II) and Mn (II) Ions

Abstract: A new chain of Schiff base complexes made up of Cu (II), Co (II), Cd (II),Ni (II), and Mn (II) ions derivatives were obtained by the condensation of 4-dimethyl-aminobenzaldehyde, and 4-aminoantipyrin and some amino acids. The structures of all synthesized complexes were established on the basis of their elemental analysis (UV, FTIR, and 1 HNMR). The study of X-ray crystallographic shows that the compound (Z)-4-((4-(dimethylamino)benzylidene)amino)-1,5-dimethyl-2-phenyl-1,2-dihydro-3H-pyrazol-3-one (L 5 ) cryst… Show more

“…The Co(II) complex had a magnetic moment of 4.91 BM, which was in agreement with the reported value for octahedral Co(II) complexes [27]. The present Ni(II) complex showed a magnetic moment value of 3.1 within the range of 2.9-3.3 BM [25,28], suggesting an octahedral environment. The Cu(II) complex showed a magnetic moment value of 1.82 BM, higher than the spin-only value 1.73 BM as expected for one unpaired electron, which was monomeric and consistent with a distorted octahedral geometry [29].…”

“…As expected, the negative values of Δ S ads 0 pronounce the decrease in entropy with respect to an exothermic adsorption process. In a bulk solution, the inhibitor molecules are free to migrate and as the adsorption process proceeds, the inhibitor molecules’ adsorption onto the MS surface becomes more organized, which lowers entropy. Moreover, the values of two methods’ results for Δ H ads 0 and −Δ S ads 0 are in good agreement.…”

“…Table makes it evident that as temperature rises, Δ G ads 0 rises as well, indicating that 4-NBAAP corrosion inhibition of MS is an exothermic process. Here, adsorption of 4-NBAAP on the metal surface becomes unfavorable as the reaction temperature rises. The integrated version of the Van’t Hoff equation can be used to calculate the entropy of adsorption and the enthalpy of adsorption (Δ H ads 0 ) and it is expressed as follows. normalΔ G normala normald normals 0 = normalΔ H normala normald normals 0 T normalΔ S normala normald normals 0 Figure shows a linear plot of Δ G ads 0 against T , where the intercept is equal to Δ H ads 0 and the slope is equal to Δ S ads 0 . The values of Δ S ads 0 and Δ H ads 0 that were obtained are −123.4 and −72.56 kJ mol –1 , respectively.…”
