Synthesis, Characterisation and Vasolidation Properties of Indanone-based Chalcones

Abstract: Six indanone-based chalcones were successfully synthesised from 1-indanone and 4-benzaldehyde derivatives via Claisen-Schmidt condensation reaction. The synthesised indanone-based chalcones were characterised by CHN elemental analysis, FTIR spectroscopy and NMR spectroscopy to determine their structures. Vasodilation studies indicated compounds 1b1 and 1-OH showed good vasodilation properties with R max value of 38.34 ± 8.90% and 96.68 ±14.77%, respectively. Compound with hydroxyl group shows better effect to … Show more

“…The Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectra revealed the appearance of aromatic C=C band ranging at 1550-1650 cm -1 prove the formation of a,ß-unsaturated ketone. 12,13 The 1 H NMR spectra showed the signals of respective proton according to their chemical shifts, multiplicities and coupling constants. The in-silico studies were conducted to screen the compounds with molecular interaction towards DENV-2 NS2B/NS3 protease, as it plays an important role in virus replication.…”

“…The indanone derivatives and their structural analogs are widely employed in agriculture, medicine, and the synthesis of natural products. Indanone derivatives have antimicrobial, antibacterial, antiviral, anticancer, vasodilatation, anticonvulsant, anti-diabetic, antimalarial, antiinflammatory, the treatment of Alzheimer disease, insecticidal [5][6][7] and activities.…”
