Synthesis and evaluation of antimicrobial and anthelmintic activity of novel fluorinated 7-ethyl-10H-phenothiazines, their sulphones and ribofuranosides

Abstract: A series of novel fluorinated 10H-phenothiazines were synthesized via Smiles rearrangement. 10H-phenothiazines on refluxing with 30% hydrogen peroxide in glacial acetic acid gave 10H-phenothiazines-5, 5-dioxides (sulphones). These synthesized 10H-phenothiazines were then used as base to prepare ribofuranosides by treating them with sugar (β-D-ribofuranosyl-1-acetate-2, 3, 5-tribenzoate).
