Synthesis and electrical properties of carbon nanotube polyaniline composites

Abstract: A multiwalled carbon nanotube∕polyaniline composite with cablelike morphology has been synthesized by an in situ chemical oxidative polymerization directed with cationic surfactant cetyltrimethylammonium bromide. It is interestingly found that with increasing carbon nanotube loading from 0 to 24.8wt%, the conductivity increases by two orders of magnitude and the Mott’s characteristic temperature T0 which depends on the hopping barrier decreases by three orders of magnitude. Furthermore, the low-temperature mag… Show more

“…The average localization length of the composites increases with increasing CNT content. The negative magnetoresistance provides strong evidence to support the observation that the average localization length is enhanced and the electronic transport is dominated by CNT [81]. The con-ductivity of poly(m-aminobenzene sulfonic acid)-SWCNT graft copolymers has been shown to be about four orders of magnitude higher than that of the neat polymer [34].…”

“…6b). The loss of -electrons reduced the interchain charge transport between PANi chains and between PANi strands; and intrachain hopping followed the variable range hopping (VRH) model [36,37]. Evidently, the electron loss resulted in an electron-rich medium in Pd-NPs and an electron depletion layer in PANi nanowires (Fig.…”

“…Considerable advancement has been made in designing and fabricating some PANI/CNT composites due to their unique electrical properties as well as extensive application in electronic devices [25][26][27]. Recently, many new methods to synthesize PANI/CNT composites have been well studied by several groups.…”
