Synthesis and Characterization of Organic–Inorganic Hybrid GeOx/Ethylenediamine Nanowires

Abstract: Organic‐inorganic hybrid GeOx/ethylenediamine (EDA) nanowires are fabricated via a Fe2O3‐assisted hydrothermal method. EDA connects the inorganic units through (N‐H•••O‐Ge) H‐bonding to form a sub‐nanometer periodic structure in the nanowires. This structure exhibits an obvious quantum confinement effect and thereby a blue‐shift in the UV/vis spectrum. A Fe2O3‐assisted growth mechanism is proposed, in which (N‐H•••O‐Ge) H‐bonding induces anisotropic growth of the nanowires.

“…To know the details of the structure, we refined the XRD pattern in Figure 4(c) by the MDI/JADE 5.0 program. 16 The results reveal that the product exhibits a new crystalline structure of the hexagonal system. The calculated lattice constants are a = 9 327 and c = 6 724 Å.…”

“…Nevertheless, in the presence of EA or DEA, Cu(OH) 4 2is more likely to associate with the hydrogen atoms in -NH 2 or -NH due to the oxidation tendency of amines. 45 The attached amines in this way would hinder the dehydration, which is more favorable for the stabilization of Cu(OH) 2 (Route 2 in Scheme 1).…”

“…In contrast, the reports on using short-chain alkylamines for nanoparticle fabrication are much less. 44,45 Here we explored the performance of short-chain aliphatic amines on the CuO nanostructure formation at room temperature. CuO nanoleaves with mesoporous structure were formed in aqueous solution of triethylamine (TEA).…”
