Think thin! Colloidally stable ultrathin Bi2S3 nanowires (see picture), which display strong excitonic features never before seen in bismuth chalcogenides and extremely high extinction coefficients, have been synthesized on a gram‐scale. Nanostructures such as this are of very high technological potential for thermoelectric applications.

Bi2S3 colloidal nanocrystals have been synthesized through a heterogeneous gram‐scale hot‐injection method yielding a low‐polydispersity, shape‐controlled product (dots or rods). Plasma polymerization of nanocrystal assemblies into flexible films is demonstrated (see figure) and characterized.

The different catalytic behaviors of Mo3O10(C5H6N)2·H2O wires (MoOx–pyridine) in the selective oxidation of alcohols by means of molecular oxygen (O2) and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) as green oxidants were investigated.
