Sustainable and efficient energy consumption of corn production in Southwest Iran: Combination of multi-fuzzy and DEA modeling

Abstract: Abstract:The goal of this study was to evaluate the sustainability and efficiency of corn production with regard to energy consumption in the Fars province, Southwest Iran. To reach the goal, fuzzy modeling and Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) were employed. The fuzzy model included three sub-models which assessed the sustainability use of energy inputs, i.e. machinery, fuel, fertilizer, chemical, human power, seed, and electricity. Some DEA models like CCR (Charnes, Cooper and Rhodes), BCC (Banker, Charnes and… Show more

“…In terms of other application areas, a fuzzy DEA is used for wide range areas in including sustainable supply chain management, irrigation, energy and resource management. Problem domains include sustainable supplier selection problem (Azadi et al, 2015), irrigation (Srinivasa Raju & Nagesh Kumar, 2013), sustainable agriculture (Houshyar et al, 2012).…”

“…There is a great interest in the energy analysis of the maize crop, both for grain and silage. Recent researches evaluates the capability of energy conversion of maize crop, impact of an energy input and crop management in the energy balance (RIQUETTI;BENEZ;SILVA, 2012;HOUSHYAR et al, 2012;MARTINS et al, 2015;CUNHA et al, 2015).…”

“…Segundo Houshyar et al (2012), para alcançar a sustentabilidade na produção de milho, é preciso adequar as políticas energéticas de acordo com a região e o sistema de cultivo, além de reduzir a energia de entrada o tanto quanto possível.…”
