Sunscreen Properties of Marl

Abstract: Introduction The exposure of unprotected skin to solar ultraviolet UV radiation, especially UVA and UVB rays, causes skin inflammation, photoaging 1 , and erythema 2. In addition, it may cause DNA abnormality in human skin cells, which directly leads to skin cancer 3. The scientific evidence of the harmful effects of UV radiation provides a compelling reason for applying sun protection products to protect the skin from both UVA and UVB radiation. Consequently, broad-spectrum sun protection products refer to pr… Show more

“…In order to prevent such radiation damage, the photoprotectors are indispensable tools (30). Sunscreens are photoprotective substances with the characteristics of absorbing, reflecting or refracting ultraviolet radiation, protecting the skin against direct exposure to sunlight (31,32). Ultraviolet radiation is traditionally divided into: UVC (200-280 nm), UVB (280-320 nm) and UVA (321-400 nm) (31)(32)(33).…”
