Sub-Nyquist channel estimation over IEEE 802.11ad link

Abstract: Nowadays, millimeter-wave communication centered at the 60 GHz radio frequency band is increasingly the preferred technology for near-field communication since it provides transmission bandwidth that is several GHz wide. The IEEE 802.11ad standard has been developed for commercial wireless local area networks in the 60 GHz transmission environment. Receivers designed to process IEEE 802.11ad waveforms employ very high rate analog-to-digital converters, and therefore, reducing the receiver sampling rate can be … Show more

“…We uniformly discretize the velocity and acceleration intervals into L bins with the grid size ∆v = 50 m/s and ∆a = 10 m/s 2 . Then the motion states of interest in (3) can be expressed as the column of the following matrix S. (25) where the amount of concerning motion states L can be computed as…”

“…Within the CEF lie two 512-point sequences Gu 512 [n] and Gv 512 [n] which encapsulate Golay pairs. These paired sequences have the property of perfect aperiodic autocorrelation (zero sidelobes) making them useful for communication channel estimation [5] and radar remote sensing [6]. In this paper, our radar employs 802.11ad CPHY/SCPHY frames to estimate the range and Doppler velocity of the vehicles.…”

“…In the temporal domain, [13] proposed a sub-Nyquist radar to recover target delays relying on the FRI model. Similar techniques were later studied for delay channel estimation problems in ultra-wideband [14] and millimeter wave [15] communication systems. The Doppler focusing technique was added to the temporal sub-Nyquist radar in [16] to recover both delays and Dopplers.…”
