The present study was carried out to evaluate the biochemical effects of four plants extracts (D. stramonium L., Hyoscyamus muticus L., Nerium oleander L. and Eucalyptus camalulensis Dehn.) on the late instar larvae of the greater wax moth Galleria mellonella L. The results showed that treatment of D. stramonium L. 4% gave the maximum total mortality percentage (73.33%), while the minimum total mortality percentage was (13.33%) which recorded by N. oleander L. 4%. Biological parameters were studied under laboratory conditions, the life cycle decreased by increasing plant extract concentrations. The life cycle could be arranged in ascending order as follow: 58.33, 56.67, 62.67 and 69.00 day for the larvae treated with D. stramonium L. 4%, Sakran 4%, E. Camalulensis Dehn., and N. oleander L. 4%, respectively.

In agricultural fields, main control method of phytophagous mites is acaricides and insecticides/acaricides. Unconscious and intensive use of these chemicals has caused to emergence of the most important factor which limit their application: the resistance. It is not possible to prevent resistance devolopment, but if the mode of actions of pesticides are known, the resistance can be managed and delayed. Therefore, in this review, acaricides which have different mode of actions and their classification are reviewed. Also, more environmentally friendly products such as plant extracts, essential oils and microbial agents are mentioned. It is aimed to give more detailed information to the acaricide applicators and researchers. In this way, the more consciously usage of acaricides is aimed.

Tetranychus urticae Koch (Acari: Tetranychidae) is a harmful pest for crops such as vegetables, fruits, and ornamental and industrial plants. The usage of plant extracts for pest control is seen as an alternative to synthetic pesticides. The effect of methanolic extracts obtained from sage (S. officinalis) and rosemary (R. officinalis) plants from the Lamiaceae family on T. urticae was researched in an effort to create an alternative to synthetic pesticides. The spray tower-leaf disk method was used to determine the acaricide effects of these plant extracts. The effect of sage and rosemary extracts on the pest's eggs, in nymph and adult stage was examined in the research. Four different concentrations of the plant extracts, which were 1%, 3%, 6% , 12%, were examined. The trials were prepared such that each concentration had 4 repeats and each repeat included 15 individuals. Death-live counts were made on the 1 st , 3 rd and 6 th days. The highest death rates of T. urticae at nymph and adult stages were found at 12% concentrations of sage and rosemary extracts. At this concentration, the death rate for nymph and adults was found to be 79% and 62.2% for sage extract and 58% and 82.2% for rosemary extract. The ovicidal effect of sage and rosemary extracts on pests was determined at the same concentration.
