Study of possible role of CYP1A1, GSTT1, GSTM1, GSTP1, NAT2 and ADRB2 genes polymorphisms in bronchial asthma development in children

Abstract: To study the association of polymorphisms of the enzymes genes CYP1A1 (T6235C), first phase, and NAT2 (Ñ481Ò, G590A, G857A), GSTM1 («0»), GSTT1 («0») and GSTP1 (A313G), second phase of the detoxication system, as well as the ADRB2 (C79G) gene variants with the development of bronchial asthma in children. Methods. Polymorphic variants were analyzed using PCR followed by RFLP analysis in 86 healthy individuals and in 114 patients with clinical diagnosis of bronchial asthma. Results. The frequency of gene polymor… Show more

“…Of the remaining 36 articles, four articles were excluded for being conference abstracts, four articles did not report usable data, two articles had overlapping data so the smaller study was excluded, and one article was excluded due to a specialized population (both cases and controls were selected based occupational exposure). Thus, a total of 26 case–control studies met inclusion criteria and were included in the current meta‐analysis (Fig. ).…”

“…included a total of 16 studies, one of which was a cross‐sectional study that was not included in the current meta‐analysis. In addition, four articles included in our meta‐analysis were not part of the study by Zhao Y. et al . Furthermore, in the study by Zhao Y. et al ., two articles considered to describe an adult population in our study only used extracted data from children.…”

“…Initially, there were 386 potentially relevant publications identified during the literature search. Following primary screening using the study exclusion criteria, a total of 167 publications were eliminated, which resulted in a total of 18 controlled studies that included 2,982 pediatric patients with asthma and 2,651 controls [10,1517,2235]. The main findings of each study are summarized in Table 1.…”
