Study of diamond film nucleation by ultrasonic seeding in different solutions

Abstract: Ê Ú ¿½ Ñ Ö ¾¼½¼ ÔØ ½ Ë ÔØ Ñ Ö ¾¼½½ ×ØÖ ØIn this study we have investigated diamond nucleation on Si substrates by ultrasonic seeding with different liquid solutions of Ultradispersed Detonation Diamond (UDD) powder in a mixture of metal nano-or microparticles (Ni, Co, Y). The influence of different solutions on nucleation efficiency was investigated. For highlighting nucleation centers and better evaluation of the nucleation process the nucleated samples were moved into a Microwave Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vap… Show more

“…Prepared silica-silicon arrangement was mechanically seeded in an ultrasonic bath in deionized water/UDD (Ultra Dispersed Diamond) powder solution [9]. The NCD deposition was done from a gas mixture of methane and hydrogen (hydrogen gas flow of 400 sccm, methane gas flow of 2 sccm) in a MW PECVD reactor using an ellipsoidal cavity resonator [10].…”

“…We can also conclude that ultrasonic abrasion with powder slurries increases the surface roughness due to the formation of nanoscale scratches (Varga et al , 2011). The role of metal particles such as Ni, Co, Y is under discussion, yet it is obvious that they can infl uence the early stage of the diamond growth process as well.…”

“…We showed (Varga et al , 2011) that use of Ni, Co and Y metal powders also results in an enhanced nucleation density, and these metal powders are the optimal solution for ultrasonic seeding. After 10 min growth, the nucleation is visible ( Fig.…”
