The paper discusses different issues concerning teaching literature to foreign international students. Referring to a didactic experience carried out at the University of Naples "L'Orientale" with a of a group of Chinese students, the authors focus on the role played by literature in developing reading and comprehension skills. Following Coseriu's text theory, literature learning is presented as an exercise in interpretation aimed at decoding the addresser's intentions. Data collected from the analysis of the students' written productions prove a strong correlation among language proficiency and text skills, which include metatextual abilities by which students can decode the expressive values that make up the sense of literary texts. IntroduzioneIn queste pagine si presentano alcune riflessioni sulla didattica della letteratura per studenti universitari internazionali. La natura di questa disciplina pone infatti una serie di problematiche specifiche che la rendono particolarmente complessa per parlanti non nativi a cui venga chiesto un livello di approfondimento di tipo universitario. Da un lato la comunicazione espressiva utilizzata nei testi letterari, dall'altro gli approfondimenti critici che sarebbero attesi per una formazione di livello universitario rendono l'approccio alla disciplina particolarmente gravoso.

“…Three essential features of wordplay are singled out: it is a carrier of metalingual information, it is the outcome of a communicative intention, and it somehow involves a transgres sion of language norms. Most of the first chapter is taken up by a classification of wordplays which is partly based on Hausmann (1974) and to a lesser extent on Heibert (1993 Wortspiel im engeren Sinne I have listed the section numbers indicating the paragraphs where these distinctions are explained to suggest something of the elaborate, somewhat unwieldy nature of Tęcza's taxonomy. As the author himself acknowledges (p. 65), the pun on trauriglTrauring does not depend on sound similarity only but also on the playful allusion to the idiomatic phrase traurig, aber wahr, moreover, it involves two different morphosemantic analyses of (almost) the same sound sequence.…”

Во всех случаях искомые глаголы /жить, пребывать, жить, стоять/ обнаруживают валентности с локативной семантикой: в Москве, в Ленинграде, в доме, на месте. Совершенно другое показывают следующие примеры: выставочный зал, фехтовальная площадка, игра на площадке, продажа в городе. Искомое глаголы /выставить, фехтовать, играть, продать/ ни в одном из данных случаев не обнаруживают валентности с локативной семантикой ã хотя они все проявляют агентивные валентности /некто выставляет, фехтует, играет, продает/, частично также "объектные" /что-то выставлять, продавать/, но никаких локативных. При локативном употреблении речь идет о свободных обозначениях в отношении искоюіх значений глаголов, по моей терминологии * ‫-‬ о вторичных отношениях. Большое значение имеет дополнительное наблюдение: вторичные отношения к реализованным предикатам одновременно можно интерпретировать как первичные отношения к нереализованным, глубокоструктурным, простейшим предикатам. Так, например, предложение Он играет на площадке и словосочетание игра на площадке являются "сгущением" от а/ он играет во что-то /с объектной валентностью/ и б/ он находится на площадке /с локативной валентностью/ Благодаря сгущению, которое не является правилом для любого языка, как например, для вьетнамского, теряется простейший предикат НАХОДИТСЯ, при чем его валентность /здесь: НА ПЛОЩАДКЕ/ переходит в речевой реализации на другой глагол /здесь: ИГРАЕТ/, к которому не существует валентного локативного отношения, т.е. выступает в роли свободного обозначения. НА ПЛОЩАДКЕ является вторичным отношением к словоформам ИГРАЕТ/ИГРА, но первичным к погашенному в поверхностной структуре НАХОДИТСЯ. Возможность отделения одного типа от другого существует как правило и для синтаксиса предложения и словосочетаний с номинализацией /типаигра на площадке/. В данном случае номинализация дает точные сведения о глаголе. Это выглядит совершенно иначе для сочетаний типа: театральная декорация, судовой врач.
