“…Distance education (DE) was slowly being “accepted as a legitimate alternative teaching mode, rather than an inferior teaching method for those unable to attend a campus full‐time” (Harper & Kember, , p. 221). Articles focused on DE programmes and innovations in a variety of countries with particularly large geographical issues, including Australia (eg, Stanford & Imrie, ), Canada (eg, Peruniak, ) and China (eg, McCormick, ). Store and Armstrong () discussed the vital nature of the teacher–student relationship (see education–distance–students–learning–teaching–methods ) and stressed the need for effective feedback and built‐in self‐assessment exercises within student materials.…”

“…Research articles in BJET were published by authors from at least 72 different countries in the past 50 years, across 6 continents, and it should be noted that these numbers do not take into consideration articles by researchers who are based in one country, but whose research context is in another country (eg, McCormick, ). Across the entire journal’s history, the UK (including Northern Ireland) represents 40% of all articles published (see Appendix C), with the most prolific country being England (33.1%), followed by the US (16.5%), Australia (8.8%), Taiwan (6.9%) and the Netherlands (4.6%) (see Table ).…”

“…The role of student broadcasting in shaping the media landscape of different countries is constantly discussed by theorists and practitioners (R. McCormick, 1985), particularly in those countries where the student movement plays a significant role in political events, the formation of civil society and public opinion. The main messages of scientific publications and public speeches on the subject concerned the conformity of educational programs in broadcast journalism with modern requirements in professional broadcasting.…”

“…Posteriormente, se realizaron estudios más completos centrados en examinar y evaluar las organizaciones que utilizaban la radio en sus sistemas de educación (Barnes & Hooper, 1976). A partir de los años 80, se incrementaron los estudios que se centraban en los efectos de la radio en la educación universitaria en distintos países: Australia (Guiton, 1984), en Polonia (Potulicka, 1988) y en China (McCormick, 1985;Hurd & Xiao, 2006;Wang & Mills, 2009).…”
