Abstract:The nucleocapsid proteins of bacteriophage PM2 and the inner lamella of the lipid bilayer, containing most of the phosphatidylethanolamine residues, were selectively cross-linked in the presence of 0.1 -0.5 % glutaraldehyde, 5 mM dimethylsuberimidate, or 0.05 % toluene 2,4-diisocyanate. The biological activity (p.f.u.) of PM2 modified by these reagents decreased 106-fold in all cases. The spike and coat proteins were selectively cross-linked in the presence of 7.5 mM N,N'-p-phenylenedimaleimide. The biological… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
