Structural Characteristics and Antioxidative Capability of the Soluble Polysaccharides Present in Dictyophora indusiata (Vent. Ex Pers.) Fish Phallaceae

Abstract: Dictyophora indusiata (Vent. ex Pers.) Fish Phallaceae (Chinese name Zhu-Sūn, the bamboo fungi) has been used as a medicinal mushroom to treat many inflammatory, gastric and neural diseases since 618 AD in China. We hypothesize that the soluble polysaccharides (SP) present in D. indusiata and their monosaccharide profiles can act as an important role affecting the antioxidative capability, which in turn would influence the biological activity involving anti-inflammatory, immune enhancing and anticancer. We obt… Show more

“…Hot water extract also showed broad spectrum antibacterial and antifungal principles (Oyetayo et al 2009). Phalus indusiatus is historically known to treat many inflammatory, gastric and neural disorders since 618AD in China (Ker et al 2011). As seen in P. indusiatus, alternatively a wide range of bioactive metabolites of medicinal and therapeutic potential are likely to exist in P. merulinus.…”

“…D. indusiata, an alkaline food in nature, contains various nutritious including protein, polysaccharide, mineral, vitamin, amino acids, thiamine, riboflavin, nicotinic acid and is good for the hypertensive, hypercholesterolemia and hyperlipidaemia. D. indusiata also has received considerable attention in biopharmaceutical fields because of the medicinal effect like mental tranquilization, antitumor, anticorrosive, enhance immunity, and so forth [1].…”

“…Our results illustrate that the lipid peroxidation reaction was induced by arsenic, after which it was taken in. The activity of SOD and GSH could reflect the ability of eradicating free radicals [30,31], and TAOC was the gross anti-oxidative element including macromolecular, micromolecular, and enzymes [32][33][34].
