Stretchable and compressible strain sensors for gait monitoring constructed using carbon nanotube/graphene composite

Abstract: Stretchable and compressible strain sensors play an essential role in various fields with uses ranging from automotive components to medical devices. This study reports on the fabrication and characteristics of stretchable strain and pressure sensors constructed using a carbon nanotube and graphene composite. The sensors were used for gait analysis, an important step in the diagnosis and management of movement disorders. The stretchable and compressible strain sensors were used to measure peak knee sagittal an… Show more

“…Kumpika et al [ 42 ] also applied the modified strategy to prepare silicone composites with assembled h CNT/G fillers. Their two-step fabrication route involved: (1) production of CNT/G hybrid thin films through ethanol solution blending, sonication, and stirring; (2) infiltration of dried CNT/G thin films with silicone.…”

“…The emergence of flexible electronics in recent years has generated interest in composites of polymers and inorganic nano-scale materials or fillers. In this context, there has been great interest in composites of nano-materials and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), a flexible, transparent, chemically stable silicone elastomer useful for flexible electronics [1]. More recently, ternary composites of PDMS and two distinct nano-fillers are being investigated to create new materials/applications that exploit the characteristics of the individual components.…”
