RESUMOEsta revisão tem por objetivo proporcionar maior entendimento sobre a estreptococose na criação de tilápias e com isso auxiliar na escolha do melhor método de profilaxia e controle desta enfermidade. Streptococcus agalactiae é um patógeno cosmopolita e o principal agente etiológico de septicemia e meningoencefalite em teleósteos. Surtos provocados por essa bactéria levam a altas taxas de morbidade e mortalidade de peixes, resultando em sérios prejuízos econômicos, especialmente na tilapicultura que é o ramo da aquicultura que mais produz no Brasil. Este trabalho traz as principais características da estreptococose em tilápias do Nilo e sua prevenção pelo uso de vacinas intraperitoneais. Novos estudos devem ser realizados com intuito de esclarecer ainda mais sua patogênese e aperfeiçoar os métodos profiláticos e de controle. PALAVRAS-CHAVE: estreptococose, teleósteos, bacteriose. ABSTRACTThis review aims to provide greater understanding of estreptococosis in reared tilapia and thereby assist in choosing the best method of prevention and control of this disease. Streptococcus agalactiae is a cosmopolitan pathogen and the main etiologic agent of septicaemia and meningoencephalitis in teleost. Outbreaks caused by this bacteria lead to high rates of morbidity and mortality of fish, resulting in serious economic losses, especially in the cage tilapia culture that is a branch of aquaculture which produces most in Brazil. This paper presents the main estreptococosis characteristics in Nile tilapia and its prevention by using intraperitoneal vaccines. Further studies should be conducted with the intention of clarifying its pathogenesis and improving the prevention and control.

Infections with Streptococcus spp. were observed in Nile tilapia cultured in net cages in Lake Sentani, Papua, Indonesia. Clinical signs included exophthalmia, erratic swimming, ascites in abdominal cavity, and external hemorrhages. Four types of bacterial colonies (SK, K10, P20, and M12) were isolated from the brain, kidney, and eyes. Based on phenotypic and genetic (16S rDNA sequencing) characteristics, the isolates were identified as Streptococcus iniae (SK), Streptococcus agalactiae (K10 and P20) and Lactococcus garvieae (M12). The latter species has not been previously isolated or reported from fish streptococcosis in Indonesia. Intraperitoneal injection of healthy tilapia with the bacterial species caused significant morbidity (70%) within 3 days and 100% mortality at 6 days post injection. Experimental infections and reisolation of the bacteria from morbid and dead fish suggest they are the causative agents of streptococcosis, which rendered high mortality among cage cultured Nile tilapia in Lake Sentani. Our results suggest the need for developing diagnostic tools for accurate identification of the agents of streptococcosis. As tilapia aquaculture continues to expand as a means of food production and livelihood in Indonesia, it becomes crucial to ensure that fish resources are monitored and protected from the adverse effects of infectious diseases.

ABSTRACT. The Vibrio is the most common genera with crustaceans often causing various diseases in Aquaculture and significant economic losses. Many Vibrio species are pathogenic to human and have been implicated in food borne diseases. The present study was carried out, the isolation and identification of pathogenic bacterial flora were isolated from infected in hepatopancreas of vannamei. The SPDS Oceanic farm, RS Aqua farm of and Valli vilas Aqua farm Vellar estuary, Cuddalore District, Tamil Nadu, during the period of (September 2013 to November 2013). The collected samples were plated on TCBS-(Thiosulfate-Citrate-Bile salt-Sucrose) agar medium. The present study, totally 253 green colonies were isolated from TCBS agar plates and among these, 175colonies were identified by using the biochemical tests showed the V. parahaemolyticus, V. mimicus, V. vulnificus, V. damsela and P. shigelloides. The maximum species was recorded in V. parahaemolyticus (83.4 %) and minimum was observed in V. mimicus (1.7 %).
