Strength and Water Purification Properties of Environment-Friendly Construction Material Produced with the (D)PAOs and Zeolite

Abstract: The goal of this study was to improve the water purification performance of secondary concrete products that can be used in rivers and streams. To this end, mortar and porous concrete were produced by adding both de-nitrifying phosphate accumulating organisms ((D)PAOs) and zeolite, and their mechanical properties and water purification performance were analyzed. The compression strength test results showed that the strength was the highest when the mixing ratios of (D)PAOs and zeolite were set to 10% and 5%, r… Show more

“…Today, the study of volumetric structural impacts on the PC's capacity to purify water is majorly focused on the BPA impacts. Previous investigations reported that a rise in BPA increased PC's capacity to adsorb contaminants, e.g., heavy metal ions, significantly improving the capacity to purify water [198,199]. However, some other researchers proposed that a reduction in the BPA adds to stormwater passage time, allowing for the improvement of the contaminant removal rate and obtaining greater water purification performance [51,200].…”

“…This issue focuses on the latest development in "Emerging Construction Materials and Sustainable Infrastructure". In the study of properties of sustainable construction materials, "green" concrete materials [20][21][22][23], composite materials [24,25], recycled materials [26][27][28], soil/rock materials [29,30] and other novel environmentally friendly construction materials [31,32] are reported in this issue. The investigations of the behaviours of structures constructed with different materials include demolished concrete structures [33,34], high-performance concrete structures [35], steel structures [36,37], steel-concrete composite structures [38,39] and fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP)-concrete hybrid structures [40][41][42][43].…”
