Bipolinis afektinis sutrikimas (maniakinė depresija) yra psichikos sveikatos būklė, kuriai būdingi pasikartojantys (mažiausiai du) nuotaikos ir aktyvumo lygio pakitimo epizodai. Jų metu nuotaika tampa pakili, padidėja energija bei aktyvumas (manija ar hipomanija), kartais nuotaika pablogėja, o energija bei aktyvumas sumažėja (depresija). Stipri išankstinė neigiama nuostata, stereotipinis apibūdinimas, socialinė atskirtis, statuso praradimas ir diskriminacija lėmė, jog stigmatizacija tapo viena opiausių problemų, su kuria susiduria bipoliniu afektiniu sutrikimu ir kitomis psichichikos ligomis sergantys asmenys. Šiame straipsnyje aptariamos įvairios diskriminacijos apraiškos, kurias dažniausiai patiria bipolinį afektinį sutrikimą turintys pacientai, kaip antai: ribojamos darbo galimybės bei profesinis tobulėjimas, sutrikdoma socialinė integracija, šie asmenys nepripažįstami visaverčiais bendruomenės nariais, jų šalinamasi, dažnai manoma, kad jie visą gyvenimą turi gyventi su tėvais, negali susirasti partnerio ir sukurti savo šeimos, išlaikyti stabilios finansinės padėties. Platesnius tyrimus šioje srityje sunkina psichosocialinės būsenos objektyvizavimas. Nors ilgus metus šią ligą besigydantys pacientai susilaukia daugiau negatyvaus vaizdavimo, tikėtina, jog jie turi daugiau vidinių išteklių įveikti kylančius sunkumus, nes ilgiau taiko išmoktas psichoterapijos metodikas. Pabrėžtina, kad nuolatinis, tęstinis psichiatrinio gydymo užtikrinimas, psichoterapijos užsiėmimai, šeimos palaikymas ir socialinis įsitraukimas į visuomeninę veiklą yra esminiai veiksniai, kurie neabejotinai prisideda prie sergančiųjų bipoliniu afektiniu sutrikimu gyvenimo kokybės bei klinikinės būklės gerinimo.

Objective: to understand the feelings, stigmas and work, family and social limitations of bipolar affective disorder for the person and family caregiver. Method: this is a qualitative and descriptive study in a Psychosocial Care Center, size II, with 12 people diagnosed with bipolar affective disorder and four family caregivers. Data was obtained through interviews with semi-structured script, analyzing them using the technique of Content Analysis in the Thematic Content Analysis modality. Results: it was identified that bipolar affective disorder is viewed with prejudice and carries various social stigmas, such as shame, fear, anger and sadness. Some participants expressed the difficulty in maintaining employment or entering the labor market after the onset of the disorder. Conclusion: it was understood that bipolar affective disorder bears the mark of chronicity and prejudice. RESUMOObjetivo: compreender os sentimentos, estigmas e limitações laborais, familiares e sociais do transtorno afetivo bipolar para a pessoa e o familiar cuidador. Método: trata-se de um estudo qualitativo, descritivo, em um Centro de Atenção Psicossocial, de porte II, com 12 pessoas diagnosticadas com transtorno afetivo bipolar e quatro familiares cuidadores. Obtiveram-se os dados mediante entrevista com roteiro semiestruturado, analisando-os mediante a técnica de Análise de Conteúdo na modalidade Análise de Conteúdo Temática. Resultados: identificou-se que o transtorno afetivo bipolar é visto com preconceito e carrega vários estigmas sociais, como vergonha, medo, raiva e tristeza. Expressou-se, por alguns participantes, a dificuldade em manter vínculo empregatício ou ingressar no mercado de trabalho após a manifestação do transtorno. Conclusão: compreendeu-se que o transtorno afetivo bipolar carrega a marca da cronificação e do preconceito. Objective: To understand how elderly persons perceive subjective aspects linked to current and other life experiences related to the process of becoming frail. Method: A qualitative study, anchored in interpretative anthropology, was performed. The elderly were selected from the FIBRA Network database from those classified as robust or pre-frail, according to the frailty phenotype of Fried et al., in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil in 2009. We interviewed 15 elderly people of different genders, ages, income, religion and functional status, in 2016. In data collection and analysis, the "signs, meanings and actions" analysis model was used, which allows the understanding of the elements that are significant for a population to read a given situation and to position themselves in relation to it. Results: From the analysis the following categories emerged: a) suffering throughout life and b) suffering and the resources to deal with them. Conclusion: The interviewees described sufferings of different aspects that constitute their life, from birth to aging, according to experiences related to pain, loss and learning. The perception of current frailty refers to their life history, marked by physical or mental suffering, whether insidious or temporary -as well as illnesses, how they manifest themselves today, and a lack of financial resources and urban security. The narratives bring us closer to the perception of frailty as being constitutive of human beings, who can easily break.
