“…In light of the significance of such  - interactions, platinum compounds having nucleobase ligands would seem to be ideal anticancer agents, since the nucleobase ligand would naturally intercalate between base pair layers in the DNA. Indeed, various platinum(II) complexes of nucleotides, 12 nucleosides, 13,14,15 and nucleobase derivatives 16 have been reported as highly lethal to different kinds of cancers.
