“…To our knowledge, there was only one STLS case associated with kidney cancer reported. 8 But in that case, the patient had a larger renal mass (more than 10 cm), extensive necrosis and metastasis to lymph nodes, mesentery, adrenals, pleura, left bronchus, liver, and bones. On the contrary, our patient had a smaller mass without metastasis (stage T3a).…”

“…Risk factors for spontaneous cell lysis in solid tumors include cell chemo sensitivity, proliferation rate, large masses (especially if >10 cm), presence of liver and bone metastasis, extensive necrosis, high serum lactic dehydrogenase, and high serum uric acid levels and CKD. 3,8 Reduced renal function leads to hyperuricemia and crystal precipitation in renal tubules due to decreased uric acid clearance. Nephrotoxic agents like non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, antibiotics, contrast, and drugs that interfere with uric acid excretion (thiazide diuretics, acetylsalicylic acid) should be avoided.…”

“…The literature search identified 1440 unique results, where 47 articles met the inclusion criteria with a total of 807 patients included in the data analysis ( Figure 1 ). 1 , 10 , 11 , 13 , 15 , 18 60 Demographics, presenting features, treatment, and survival information were compiled for those patients with known status. The majority of patients were male (75.5%), and the mean age at diagnosis of RCC spine metastasis was 56.7 years.…”

“…Given the aforementioned risk factors, prevention of AKI is essential, therefore volume expansion with oral or intravenous fluids is paramount [ 12 , 13 , 37 ]. It is also prudent to avoid nephrotoxins such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, iodinated contrast and vasoconstrictive medications [ 32 ].…”
