The research sought to understand the value of patriotism in the Hikayat Prang Sabi by using a qualitative approach. Hikayat was referred to narratives (saga) of war rooted in Acehnese cultural tradition, and Prang Sabi in Acehnese language meant ‘Holy War’. As a literary work, Hikayat Prang Sabi embodied the concept of jihad, which was usually sung during the time of war in the Acehnese history: Portuguese in 1511, Dutch in 1873, Japan in 1942, and the Republic of Indonesia in 1976. The source of the data was verses or stanzas of Hikayat Prang Sabi that contained patriotic values. These verses were then treated as the unit of analysis. A hermeneutic approach was employed to analyze the data. The findings show that Hikayat Prang Sabi contains two types of patriotic values: national and religious. National value refers to the sense of nationalism, ethnicity, and humanity. Religious value, on the other hand, displays the value of spirituality, prophecy, and peace. These values indicate the foundation of thinking and doing of the Acehnese people manifested in a literary work, which then can be transferred into the notion of character education.

The purpose of the paper is to review and discuss the role of Islamic Human Resources Management (IHRM) practices and the principles of the IHRM system and its necessity in the context of the emerging Islamic banking sector, namely Bangladesh. Design/Methodology/Approach: This paper highlighted and discussed the importance of Islamic human resource management practices in Bangladesh in addition to a brief discussion on all HRM practices. Nonetheless, this study is based on secondary documents and data obtained from a variety of articles, books, newspapers, journals, and websites. Findings: It is found in this research that there may be nine IHRM system principles that can positively influence four major IHRM systems, including recruitment and selection, training and development, performance evaluation, and pay and compensation. If all four activities are carried out in accordance with Islamic principles, so the long-term organization can be maintained, and the growth of human capital will be assured. Originality/value: Explore the key IHRM values of the Al Quran and the rising need for the IHRM system in Bangladesh. Thus, the findings of the study may help to formulate the policies and implement the IHRM program in the Islamic banks.

Though religion-informed charitable behavior has gained much academic attention recently, there is an ambiguous relationship between individual donation intention and Buddhist determinants. Drawing on the theories of reasoned action and product semantics, this study tries to examine the effects of product design with Buddhist symbols on individual charitable donation behavior and the underlying mechanism. Some studies have argued for the positive effects of religious symbols on people’s behavioral reactions; however, limited prior research has addressed the impact of a touchable product, such as a donation box, on people’s charitable donation intentions from the perspective of Buddhism. The current study statistically shows that donation boxes with Buddhist symbols could significantly improve people’s charitable donation intention through two sequential mediators, namely, their perceived religiosity and product attitude. The study provides both theoretical contributions and practical implications for future research.
