“…Acute spinal cord ]infarction largely localized to the conus medullaris has been reported only rarely, and we are not aware of previous reports of its occurrence without a definable underlying cause such as prolapse of an intervertebral disc, abdominal aortic surgery, or an abdominal aortic aneurysm. The first report in English of spinal cord infarction resulting from surgery for an abdominal aortic aneurysm included 1 patient with isolated involvenient of the sacral segments of the cord [9]. That patient had impaired sphincter function without sensory or nnotor abnormalities in the legs, although no comment was made about perianal sensation.…”
