Spin polarization of the Ar* 2p−11/24s and 2p−11/23d resonant Auger decay

Abstract: The spin-resolved Auger decay of the Ar 2p −1 1/2 3d state was measured at moderate energy resolution and compared with the decay of the 2p −1 1/2 4s. The former shows a lower transferred spin polarization and a similar, if not higher, dynamical spin polarization, supporting the statement that a fully resolved spectrum is not a necessary condition for observing dynamical spin polarization. An interpretation of the spin polarization as configuration interaction induced effect in the final ionic state leads to p… Show more

“…119,120,121 The same group at the ALS also developed a TOF experiment with four TOF systems at various angles capable of acquiring coincidence data between the analyzers. 122 This instrument also capitalized on the simple mechanical nature of basic TOF analyzers by incorporating small 12.5 cm analyzers, all rotatable in-situ, and maximizing resolving power to ∼ 5% by utilizing a 2-stage retarding potential.…”

“…Angular distribution of the resonant Auger electrons was studied, for example, in [3,[15][16][17][18] and spin polarization e.g. in [19,20]. Recently, the resonant Auger effect has also been studied in intense x-ray fields, see e.g.…”
